Powerhouse Motorsports, the company that does most of our installations here in Johannesburg, just recently installed a MIC3 to handle a twin turbo conversion to a Porsche 911.

The above photo shows the car with bonnet open, it is still air-cooled. The radiator on the top is used as an intercooler to cool air coming from the turbo.

The next picture shows the laptop with tuning software running, the standard Porsche uses a magnetic missing tooth pickup that was swapped out for a sensor that generated a square wave signal for use with the MIC3. This would not be necessary with the out new PRS range because they are designed to handle missing tooth signals up to 60 teeth.

Hmm, nice arse, I am told she is quite a pistol too. The above pictures show what the engine compartment looks like. The photos show the radiator that is being used as the intercooler and I am sure most Porsche enthusiasts will recognize the fan below it used to cool the engine.

Rear
If you look closer at the pictures you will also see the MIC3 is used to run a twin coil application; as shown by the two coils seen on the top left hand side of the radiator in the last picture. You will see the twin turbo’s along with the plumber’s nightmare of pipes in the picture on the top right photo above.

The MIC3 has done a fantastic job of handling engine management in this car, it is extremely fast. As a future upgrade I would suggest using the PRS, since it has other features such as closed loop operation which could be useful in a Turbo application with altitude changes, especially with here in Johannesburg, ensuring that fuel mixture is consistent. Like I mentioned before the PRS is also capable of reading a 60-tooth signal which would mean you could use the cars original crank pickup reducing installation costs and time.

The end result is an extremely fast, fun to drive car showing the versatility of the MIC3 and creating what is probably the fastest bathroom sink in the country.
