Application Note - Calibrating the Engine Temp Signal

HOW TO CALIBRATE THE ENGINE TEMPERATURE VOLTAGE

Step 1 : In the Let Ripp Tuning Software, display the ENG TEMP value as a small number on the screen. ref to’ Data Display App’ (With the engine not running but switched power on)

Step 2 : Open the ENGT Calibration map.

Step 3 : Click on the ‘ENGT CALIBRATION, the map that opens will be the uncalibrated map.

Step 4 : In the Low Calibration fields, enter the Present Input Value Volts into the Low calibration volts field. The Position field if the car is still cold should be around 5 this allows the unit to calculate a lower temperature scale. The C field can be entered using a temperature gauge or use a rough estimate of the engine temperature. Press enter after each field entry for the change to take effect!

Step 5 : Setting the High Calibration will require that the engine reaches operating temperature. Enter the Present Input Value Volts into the High calibration volts field. The Position field with the car is now hot would be around 20 this allows the unit to calculate a higher temperature scale. The C field can be entered using a temperature gauge or use a rough estimate of the engine temperature. Press enter after each field entry for the change to take effect!

Step 6 : Once all the fields have been entered, the ‘Apply’ button has to be pressed for the calculations to take place. The accuracy of the temperature reading is not critical as long as you get the unit to perform the function you require at the calculated temperature.
